Report: DA's office, Ritter campaign swapped callsBy Denver Post, January 31, 2008 Employees of the Denver district attorney's office accessed a restricted federal database after one of them received a message from a member of Bill Ritter's gubernatorial campaign staff, The Denver Post reported Thursday... Federal immigration agent Cory Voorhis has been charged with improperly entering the same database for information about a felon who received a plea deal when Ritter was the Denver DA... Denver DA officials have said they accessed the National Crime Information Computer to check on the felon, Carlos Estrada-Medina, but said it was in response to media calls about the Beauprez campaign ad, which began running Oct. 10, 2006. The Post reported that call logs released by the DA's office show no rush of media inquiries. The logs show that between Oct. 10 and 12, there were at least four calls between DA's spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough and a woman identified by the DA's office as Stephanie Villafuerte, a former deputy DA working for the Ritter campaign, the newspaper said. Between Oct. 11 and 12, there were at least three calls between Villafuerte and Assistant DA Chuck Lepley, who ordered the computer check, the newspaper said. On Oct. 12, a DA staffer ran Estrada-Medina's name through the NCIC, the Post reported.
